THE MYSTERY HOTEL

During my time in Budapest last summer, I was lucky enough to stay at the newly opened Mystery Hotel. This eclectic hotel was originally a palace built by the Hungarian Freemasons in the 19th century, today it is every insta-traveller’s dream! Click here for more information, or check out my Instagram highlights from Budapest for more details from my stay.

ENTRANCE LOBBY
The first impression I got when I walked in was how grand it is. The way the stone staircase and floors are paired gold eastern European décor showed off the Budapest glam! From the infinity carpet to view of the green spa atrium peeking through the window, I couldn’t wait to see what else this hotel had to offer.

THE SECRET GARDEN SPA (my favourite!)
The Secret Garden spa was my favourite part of staying here. The tranquil atmosphere in this amazing atrium was making the architectural designer in me go crazy! If you ever stay here, please spend an afternoon relaxing here, you won’t regret it.
Tip: Accessorise your favourite swimsuit with large sunglasses and dainty metallic jewellery for an effortless luxurious chic look when getting your photos taken here. I would also bring a little pouch you can store them in when you go for your spa appointment/ dip in the jacuzzi.

DINING IN THE GREAT HALL AND RELAXING IN THE SKY GARDEN
Two other great parts of the hotel are the Great Hall and the Sky Garden rooftop terrace because they are both equally Instagramworthy spots! The interior of the Great Hall really reflects the name. It is an elegantly decorated double-height space with chandeliers and an arched painted ceiling. Unfortunately I didn’t spend too much time there as I mostly ate in the city, but the brunches I ate there on lazier mornings were delicious! I personally preferred the Sky Garden for it’s view of the city. From this garden terrace, you can spot the Castle of Buda, the Fishermen’s Bastion and Gellért Hill!

The location of the Mystery Hotel is also great. The Nyugati Railway Station and Teréz körút are only 300 meters away. Budapest’s main attractions, such as Parliament, Heroes’ Square, Andrássy út and the Basilica are also within a short walking distance. For attractions that are further away, I would consider taking the hotel car if you are in a larger group as it could save you time, money and the effort of looking for a taxi.

Our stay here was way too short and I can’t wait to return when I next visit Budapest!
