As the year fades and we look toward a fresh calendar, I’m already wandering into the possibilities of 2026 travel planning. There is something magical about this season of reflection. Looking back at the passport stamps that changed me while planning new bucket list destinations for the year ahead.

Whether it’s sun-drenched coastlines or mist-covered peaks, if you’re looking for vacation inspiration or the best places to travel in 2026, I’m opening up my personal archives. From hidden gems to iconic landmarks, here are my Favourite memories from the road and the best time to visit these dream locations ~ month by month.

Lapland, Finland

JANUARY

This is the heart of winter magic, a time for husky safaris, and optimal viewing of the northern lights from your glass-walled sanctuary. Early June is ideal for visiting Istanbul. I really enjoyed a Bosphorus cruise between continents, seeing so many mosques and trying numerous amazing restaurants. You can also visit historic landmarks like the Hagia Sophia or the Topkapi Palace, and indulge in a traditional Turkish hammam experience. 

Komodo, Indonesia

JULY

Hike and drive through the dramatic, rugged peaks of the Dolomites as the colours of the trees begin to change. These are some of the most beautiful mountains in the world! A must-do is experiencing the unique rifugios (mountain huts) for authentic local cuisine and stunning views.

Shanghai, China

OCTOBER

Immerse yourself in the old and new, exploring sparkling skylines and ancient temples as the weather starts to cool down near the end of the month. A must-do is strolling the historic Bund, wandering the charming French Concession, and eating the famous crab Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings).

Iceland is one of the ultimate destinations for seeing epic landscapes with waterfalls and black sand beaches all along the Golden Circle. If you’re looking for the ultimate adventure, this is the one!

Southern Thailand

DECEMBER

Thailand is the perfect place for winter sun! Other than the famous Phi Phi Islands, Phang Nga, and Krabi (I enjoyed them all) you can also head to Khao Sok National Park to experience staying in a floating bungalow on the emerald waters of Cheow Lan Lake.
